Beats 1.0.0-rc2 released
We are pleased to announce the release of Beats 1.0.0-rc2. This is the last planned release candidate before 1.0.0-GA.
You can download Topbeat 1.0.0-RC2, Packetbeat 1.0.0-RC2, and Filebeat 1.0.0-RC2 and get started by following the Getting started from the Elastic Guide.
The changes in this release candidate consist mostly of minor bug fixes and clean ups with some enhancements that are detailed in the Weekly Beats.
See Topbeat Documentation, Packetbeat Documentation, Filebeat Documentation for more details.
Breaking changes
The Beats are now exporting beat.name instead of shipper, which is more clear, and also adds beat.hostname that is often useful. This change requires an update of the Beats dashboards to make use of the beat.name instead of shipper. The Beats configuration file is not affected by this change.
Another breaking change is related to Filebeat that is not exporting the line field anymore. The line number was not correctly set in case of Filebeat restarts, and making it correct would have affected the performance. We always recommend using the offset field instead as it gives you the correct value in all cases.
There are a few small changes that break the compatibility in 1.0.0-RC2 listed in the Topbeat release notes, Packetbeat release notes and Filebeat release notes.
Happy testing
The more beta testers we have, the sooner we can release Beats 1.0.0 GA, so please download Packetbeat, Topbeat, or Filebeat, try it out, and let us know what you think on Twitter (@elastic) or on our forum. You can report any problems on the Packetbeat, Topbeat, or Filebeat GitHub issues page.
